Lively games and lots of laughter marked the reopening of the newly refurbished basketball court at Wang Yang Middle School in Xin Jiang County, China. The project, made possible through the partnership between 2K Foundations and Yao Ming’s Yao Foundation, aims to expand access to sports for kids and create joy in the process.

Local leaders and partners from the Shan Xi Youth Foundation joined the day’s festivities alongside the excited middle-schoolers. The celebration came alive with cultural performances by the students followed by a spirited game between the two school teams. For many players, it was their first time competing on a real, professional outdoor court. 

In a rural region where sports resources and opportunities to play are limited, the stylish new court represents more than just fresh paint. It’s a much-needed space for kids to have fun, connect, and dream big.
